History: Ordered in 1930 by the OKH. Rheinmetall-Borsig built one prototype in competition with Krupp. The 18t vehicle was powered by a 300PS motor which gave a speed of 35km/hr. Steering was of the Wilson type. Many of the features of the Rheinmetall BW were later used in the development of the Krupp BW which was mass-produced as the Panzer IV.
